A flurry of activity here at Bee HQ has lead to another engineering release today. A complete overhaul of the user interface is also in the works and we expect to start showing that next week... in the meantime we are putting the finishing touches on the core functionality of the site and there are a number of new exciting things to look at:
(1) New Rating System
Articles can now be rated from 1 to 5 stars. Stay tuned for collaborative filtering based on different kinds of groups...
(2) Recommended Article Ordering
Beekeepers now have more control over how articles are ordered. The interface is imperfect, but the functionality is now working correctly...
(3) New Articles
Articles can be added to the Bee without having them come from an RSS feed... Thus we start to move toward being a blogging tool in our own right.
(4) Email Forward Articles
A new tool lets every reader create a contacts list and email any article in the Bee to one or more people on their contacts list. And yes, recipients can opt out -- both blocking email from particular Bee users or from the Bee altogether...
There are some other easter eggs that we'll let you discover.
Stay tuned for more buzz from the Bee HQ in the next week!
