Dan Brekke and Ted Shelton start their Personal Bee blogs with posts about the origins of the name "Bee" as being associated with news and commentary. In his blog "Apiculture" Dan writes that the first Bee may have been from
"... Eustace Budgell, a British poet, essayist, politico, and spectacularly unsuccessful land speculator who was also something of a news pioneer. In 1733, he brought out a weekly pamphlet called The Bee.
Ted counters that the word Bee in this context might date back a bit further, observing that in
"...ancient Greece, where Plato was referred to as the "Athenian Bee" for the "honeyed words" that came from his mouth. Similarly, Xenophon was called the "Attic Bee."
